" A Shadow passes over and hides something, then the sun comes out and illuminates what was not there a moment before. I find it interesting how my perceptions are constantly fluctuating and I enjoy the process of bringing them to the canvas. The hills, meadows, mountains and streams are my playground, they are what made me a painter. They are the places I go to relax, re-energize, and to contemplate. I resource the hues and contours of these places with the tools of abstraction to gradually remove what is recognizable. I directly reference the immediate world around me, however, each painting is an amalgam of many places and experiences. Curiosity, observation, revealing, concealing, wonder, discovery, exploration, all describe the journey. I often think I am much more of a builder of paintings. Layers are constructed with the physical push and pull of applying and chipping away of skins of medium, writing, drawing, scribbling and scratching. My work continues to evolve year after year as my knowledge of self and my understanding of the nature of reality has matured."

Bradley Kachnowicz was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is self taught, has painted his entire life and has work in collections - private and corporate across the United States and Europe.
Known for adventurous texture, mark making and a vivid pallet, Bradley mingles the emotion and physicality of the process of abstraction with expressive representation. One experiences a diverse range of imagery and technique in his work. Birds, butterflies, figures, flowers and animals are rendered real, fancifully or even with humor. His bold surfaces evolve gradually through persistent application and chipping away of materials which can include oil, acrylic, gesso, ink, oil stick, pastel, graphite, waxed crayon, dried herbs and Southwest Desert sand. Inspired words and phrases from the philosophies of Buddhism and Native Cultures also find their way scribbled and scratched repetitiously within the numerous layers.
Each painting travels its unique path to fruition. Each painting is an attempt to bridge the ordinary with the underlying beauty of the present moment. “ A painting works when no matter how long you live with it there is continually something new to discover. “
Bradley has had representation in Wisconsin, Florida, Colorado, and New Mexico. He paints full-time and is grateful to call home
Bayfield Colorado with his 2 dogs and the woman of his dreams.
